As near as I can calculate Flex began cutting my hair in 1985 !!! At one point he was cutting and styling the hair of all three of my kids my husband and me. My two daughters insisted on waiting to return from college so that Flex and no one else could cut their hair.
I have followed Flex all over Manhattan and am happy that he has been a part of Dramatics for so many years now. He has known me through coloring my white hair giving up coloring it for several years and then returning to color and highlights. I wandered into Dramatics six weeks after major surgery to ask about hair color products. I was greeted by warm friendly people and manager Flex who took me without delay patiently explained formulae techniques and options then gave me the most exquisite cut and color! At one point I felt weak and Flex offered me an organic banana the salon staff offered tea adjusted the temperature and each person in turn did a great job - applying color washing my hair. I saw Flex for the first time in late 2000. One of my girlfriends at work raved about how amazing he was and she was absolutely right! I hadn't had my hair colored for about 10 years before seeing Flex because every other stylist I had tried had failed miserably at successfully coloring my hair well and giving me what I wanted. What I love about Flex is that he understands me. He recognizes that I am not the type of client who comes to the salon often or who can keep up with a lot of maintenance. Flex is a total professional actually "the best kept secret." He personally knows each and everyone of his clients. Through a friend I was referred to Dramatics on Columbus and was so happy to discover a shop opening on 57th St. As my office Channel Thirteen was directly across the street I couldn't believe my luck. And my luck went through the roof the first time I went into that salon and happily got Flex to cut my hair. That was 1995 and I've been a devoted customer since then even though I have been downsized from Thirteen am no longer working and live in NJ. I am happy to shlep to wherever Flex is 57th to 23rd to 47th. He's the best cutter and now he's doing color and although he knows how little patience I have for sitting and sitting and sitting I wouldn't have it any other way. Kudos and love....

Flex is a great colorist. I always get a lot of compliments on my color which is a combination of blond highlights and lowlights. It takes a lot of patience to make them as I have a lot of hair but Flex always does a beautiful job. The cut he gives me is also very good and makes hair is easy to style. Flex is also fun to be around and a visit to his salon is a relaxing experience. He also can give you a lot of health tips which is always useful!

I show up with frizzy curly hair grey roots and sun-bleached from vacation and ... voila! ... he transforms me into a beautiful brunette with the perfect cut. I truly look forward to seeing him. Last year I got a horrific hair cut from a stylist @ Dramatics...I will be nice and not mention any namesIt was the worst hair cut I ever could have imagined!It was so short and uneven I cried for days weeks months!!!But thank GodFlex came to my rescue. He did the best he could to even it out apologized and told me that I just had to be patient and let it grow. Well I waited and waited and waited and finally 6 months later went back to Flex for a trim and Color.He only took off about 1/8 of an inch ed it a little and it almost began to look normal again. It is now 11 months since that horrible day and thanks to Flex I almost have all my hair back. I now have beautiful blonde highlights and a nice cut......He is a genius and so kind and understanding. Thanks Flex I will see you soon....my hair actually grows again.

Since 1991 when Flex worked at the West Side Dramatics near my home I have faithfully followed him from salon to salon - uptown downtown West Side East Side. There's a very good reason for that he's an excellent hairdresser! From the time when I had my hair colored until now when I have gone "au naturel" Flex has proved his skills on my sometime difficult hair. I always receive compliments on my haircut which is kept short. Everyone marvels at how well it falls into place without fussing or blowdrying. I recently moved to NYC from MA and had the same hairstylist for the last 10 years...and my hair didn't look healthy- it just never came out the way I was asking for it to! I live around the corner from Dramatics salon and my mother noticed how trendy and fun the atmosphere looked in the salon so I went in and had Flex do a consultation right away the same day & set up an appointment for the next day!
After the summer bleach ocean and sun...lets just say he did an "extreme hair transformation!" I have been a client of Angelo's aka Flex for the past 32 years. It all began when he pursuit me as a love interest. I was the least interested in him until he got a hold of my super curly hair. I still remember how comfortable he made me feel about the fact that I put my hair on large rollers. And how it was OK that I relax my hair. I still remember the first haircut he gave me and how shinny and beautiful my hair looked. Up to this day Flex has continued to relax color cut and style my hair. And of course mess it up as he pleases whenever we are confronted with that special moment.... Up to this day I tell Flex that if he ever leaves me for another that he would still have to accommondate me because with me he will always be on call. For as long as I can remember Flex and I have come to realize that looking beautiful and feeling your best begins from the inside out. And I feel completely lucky because I benefit from his wonderful salads his concoction of greens his delicious smoothies the healthy sprouted wraps filled with his creative ingredients. Flex is a master hairstylist precision cutter and color genius. I am a photographer working in the fashion industry and with celebrities and for me he has often been the "hair fix doctor". Prior to shoots I have sent clients who need to have a cut that shows volume and movement in the images-sometimes repairing a prior bad cut. I have sent models that need their nonblonde roots done and blended seamlessly- he has even restored the eyebrow color to a model whose brows were over lightened.
