Why hello there, my name is Kiss. I am a New York transplant celebrating my 11th anniversary with NYC. Initially, I moved to this beautiful city with the ambition to study theatre, and having completed training with the American Musical and Dramatics Academy, I delved into the dark underbelly of the NYC metal and punk music scenes as a professional vocalist. I eventually decided to focus on my passion for hair. I strive to bring an edge to my clients through cut and color. In terms of hair color my focus is high lift and vivid fantasy tones. I find inspiration for my work in everything from street art to live music to comic books and 80s cell animation. Hair is more than fashion; hair is reflective of life. My personal quest is to find the inner rock star in every client!
So….. How can you #giveyourhairakiss and maintain bright Fantasy & Fashion hair colors at home?
- First, let go of hot water! Heat and hot water keeps the cuticle of the hair open and release the color. Think of this being like shingles of a roof. If they’re all sitting straight up instead of flat, guess what your home will get wet or damaged from the sun. Cool/cold water will keep your cuticles flat and lock in color.
- Be mindful of heat styling as heat exposes yellow pigmentation in the hair( we don’t want our beautiful blue turning green). When curling or flat ironing, try not to exceed 385 degrees, and use a heat protectant like Dramatics Safari Magic (it also adds shine!!!)
- Use a sulfate-free shampoo like Dramatics Quench Color Retention Shampoo for fashion/vivid tones. Sulfate-free shampoo will improve the health of the hair while preserving tonality. Use in conjunction with a deep conditioning masque like the Moisture, Diamond, or Reconstructing treatments by Semi DiLino.
- Don’t skip on the leave in conditioner! Our world is full of pollution and harmful UV rays. These elements will dull color and damage the hair’s integrity. Guess what? Dramatics Safari Magic has UV protection, conditioning elements, shine and helps to hold your style.
